Hey everyone, I have never built a pc before so thats why I am here. I have done a lot of reading and compairing and I have come down to these two builds I put together.

and

http://pcpartpicker.com/user/texasrangerkilla/saved/3Q6...

the price is not such a big deal, its nice that the amd build is cheaper but thats not why i was considering it.

normally my preference would be with the intel i5/770 video card but after doing some reading it came to my attention that maybe a better future proof /compatible machine with next gen games would be based on amd hardware. this of course due to ps4/xbox1 taking advantage of multicore amd hardware and the games more than likely being built with amd graphics in mind. I plan on eventually doing a sli or xfire configuration thats why i picked that particular psu by the way. so which build do the experienced pc gameres/ builders suggest. also any hardware changes/ suggestions for the builds above are welcome... i am a noob after all. I would like to run games at high/ ultra on 1080p, one monitor. things like skyrim packed with visual enhancements,crysis3, and so on. i want to stay on the safe side with video ram and keep it as high as possible.

main point: which is better build for long term gaming?

You make a very valid point, although I think the Xbox 360 was actually made with an ATI card, and that didn't seem to stop them from focusing on Nvidia for PC games.

Man, I've made custom builds for the last 16 years and that case is waaaaay too high expensive. You only get a case like that if you make an $6000 gaming build. You should go with this build: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2XVJF.

The advantages of my build are:
1. The intel core i5 is a great processor for both gaming and overclocking.

2. The Corsair H100i will keep the processor cool even at the maximum overclock.

3. The MSI Z87-G45 is just good for a build at this price point.

4. The Ripjaws X Series is a very fast memory and it is great for gaming and you can upgrade in the future to 16GB.

5. The MSI GTX 780 is the best video card for gaming right behind the GTX 780ti.

6. It has a wireless network adapter.

7. The Fracta Design Define R4 is a quiet case, it looks nice, has good airflow and a window to see all your color matched components.

8. The Corsair RM series are very quiet long lasting power suplies and you don't really need more than 750W but you ca also go with 850W.

In the end you will get a beast of a gaming PC which you can bearly hear with your ear next to it, it can play any game at ultra setting even at 1440p and it will last a wery long time. This is the perfect build for long term gaming.
I hope that I helped you and if you have any questions just send me a message.

Just wondering, but he said he planned on doing sli in the future, would that psu be enough? Otherwise, that's a fantastic build!

Yes, the 750W PSU is enough for 2-way SLI but if he wants to be sure that it is enough he can go with the 850W PSU wich is only $20 more expensive.
