Hi, I'm a complete noob with computer parts, and want to be sure that I don't buy the wrong things. That said, I'm looking to add a graphics card to my Asus Cm1630 desktop pc, and I'm unsure of what type I need. I've gathered that I need to upgrade my power supply as well, to something with a minimum of 550 watts, but again, there are many different types, and I don't want to buy the wrong ones. Help would be greatly appreciated, this upgrade is Looong overdue.

Solution
Your processor is pretty old, however you should be able to add a GPU to your motherboard from what I see.

Adding a high end card won't benefit you much because your weak processor.

However you could probably add an r7 260x for around 130 dollars, and change your power supply to EVGA 500W for around 40 dollars.

Basically , you are looking at a cost of 170 dollars in total if you are looking to keep your processor.

You should mention your computer specs.

Anyways, it really depends on your motherboard, on the ability of PCI express slots, your processor power to mention a few.

And yes, again finally on the Power Supply.

Assuming that you have a black PCI-E slot , you probably would be able to add a graphics card.

Um, the computer is now, as it came out out of its box roughly 5 years ago http://reviews.cnet.com/desktops/asus-essentio-cm1630-athlon/4507-3118_7-34498051.html
I hope that helps :S

Sounds good :) I'm even less sure of processors than I am the other two items, but I've gathered they're a bit more pricey to replace
