I have booted up my system with the new psu in my new case and for some reason when I turn it on it powers up for about 3 seconds and then it turns of and repeats the process. Can anyone help? its not a short as I have checked all cables.

Hi - You should RMA it. A modern mobo shouldn't have an issue with any modern PSU. Also,
are you sure you have the current RM1000? You list it as bronze, the current model is gold efficiency.

Axi is correct - you don't need anywhere near 1khw PSU for the 780ti (or any current gen single GPU),
If you don't plan on adding a 2nd 780ti (then the 1khw makes sense), I'd look for a good
quality 750 - 800w unit.

Corsair sells some very good PSU's, but they also have some "not so good" models.
There is nothing functionally wrong with the RM series. However, that series is marketed
and sold as enthusiast level (a step up from budget/entry level), but they are using budget
level caps in the secondary filtering stage.

Personally, I wouldn't consider the RM series for that reason alone.

Sorry, it is the 80+ gold edition, I got confused! is there any other possible problems which could be causing this which I can try? I'm reluctant to rma it.

Hi - yes, there could be other causes, it does seem like the PSU. You may not have access tot he easiest way to tell (if you do - great), 1st - try that PSU in another computer and/or try another PSU in your computer. The 1st of those scenarios would determine quickly if the PSU is bad. The 2nd could tell you that something other than the PSU is at fault.
