Hi all,

I have a Lenovo G570 laptop. I replaced the hard drive and it does show in bios now.

I downloaded an iso image of win 7 home prem 64 bit just like was on the laptop previously.

I used the Microsoft usb/dvd tool to burn that to dvd and to make a bootable image disc.

I verified with my desktop that the bootable dvd is good and that I can reinstall using that disc.

I set the laptop's boot order to be dvd first.

The laptop gives me the error that no bootable cd inserted into drive.

so the questions:

1. Does it sound like my dvd drive is toast?

2. Would the dvd drive work anyways with an empty hard drive (ie: no drivers for the dvd drive to work?)

3. Since this laptop does not permit usb booting, is there a way in can pre install windows onto the laptop's empty hard drive using my pc and maybe the purchase of some hard drive enclosure that can be plugged into my desktop pc? Keep in mind I pnly have an iso image of the OS on a bootable dics.

I really do not want to buy another dvd drive for this old computer for $50 or so.

Thanks
Mike
