Hello,

Im looking to build a new computer and decided to look into Raid. I looked at all the Different types and decided i was going to choose RAID 1. I decided to go for the Western Digital WD10EZEX and have two working together. Firstly as my Motherboard only has one 6GB/s Port would I be able to use the 3GB/s i know the answer will probably be yes but i just want to check. Secondly if one of the drives were to fail would the other carry on running until i get a replacement or would i need to reformat. The reason i decided to choose Raid 1 was because i don't need the fastest computer as my previous previous was an Intel Core 2 Duo E6550, However i might invest in an SSD for the boot drive.

Here are the Parts

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1230 V2 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor (£169.62 @ Scan.co.uk)
Motherboard: MSI B75A-G43 ATX LGA1155 Motherboard (£56.00 @ Amazon UK)
Memory: Avexir MPOWER Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (£49.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£43.76 @ Scan.co.uk)
Storage: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (£43.76 @ Scan.co.uk)
Video Card: MSI Radeon R9 270X 2GB Video Card (£162.30)
Wireless Network Adapter: TP-Link TL-WN781ND 802.11b/g/n PCI Wi-Fi Adapter (£8.76 @ Amazon UK)
Case: BitFenix Shinobi ATX Mid Tower Case (£49.99 @ Overclockers.co.uk)
Power Supply: EVGA SuperNOVA 650W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply (£64.54 @ Amazon UK)
Other: Zalman ZM-HPS200 (£9.95)
Other: Zalman ZM-K350M (£7.60)
Other: Perixx MX-3000R (£29.99)
Total: £696.26

Thanks
