Hello, I'm having a few issues with my graphics card. I bought an MSI radeon Hd 7950 twin frozr III a while ago and had trouble booting. The BIOS would beep 6 times and then fail to boot. I fixed this problem by booting with legacy mode, but now the problem is back, but in a sort of different way. Eventually (after solving all these problems) i would like to be able to overclock my CPU's blck, but i cant seem to find the option to do it in my bios. I read that if i disable legacy mode and use uefi, the options should be there. But, since of the graphics card booting issue, i cant. I originally bought this computer as an HP envy phoenix h9-1420t, but i have upgraded the graphics card and the RAM. I heard that i would have to flash the bios or something, but i don't really know where to get the bios files for my motherboard.

Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated :)
If you guys have any questions, please feel free to ask!
Also, this is my first post in any forum, so any advice and critiques would be very helpful!

Specs: HP envy phoenix h9-1420t
GPU: MSI radeon hd 7950 twin frozr
RAM 10 GB 1600 mhz
CPU: intel core i7 3770

Hi there,

I hate to say this but the chances are that you won't be able to do any overclocking on that motherboard. It should be a Pegatron 2AD5, the OEM branch of ASUS, and is most likely loaded with a locked bios of the sort that companies like Dell and HP love to use and that really annoy end users like us. Since your CPU is not a K series chip, they most likely felt it unnecessary to leave any of the usual overclocking options available. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.

Ok, thanks for your help! And yea it's fine. I was just
wondering if it was even possible, but apperanlty not :'(. If i were to get a new mobo, what would you suggest?

Personally I am a fan of ASRock motherboards. I'm currently running a Z77 Pro 3, my fiance has a Z77 Extreme 4 and we have an HTPC running a B75M-GL mATX board. Since you don't have a K series CPU, and unless you plan on getting one, I'd go with an ASRock H77 Pro 4. It has all the features you'll need to have a decent setup including plenty of SATA III ports, 4 ram slots supporting up to 1600 RAM and its cross fire enabled if you want to run 2 GFX cards. In the US it's available on Newegg for around the $75 mark, in the UK for around £65 and in Europe its around €70. That said you could check for one on Ebay or Amazon and you may get one cheaper.

If however you plan on upgrading your CPU to a K series Ivy Bridge then I'd go with the Z77 Pro 3 or the Z77 Extreme 4 from ASRock. Hopefully that helps and that you have sorted out your graphics card issues too.

Ok, thanks for all your help! And yea, I got the graphics card problem sorted out. I will probably be upgrading to an unlocked processor, so i will check out the z77 pro 3 and the extreme 4 from ASrock. And again, I appreciate all the help!:)

You are very welcome. I'm glad you got your other issues sorted out as well and I'm glad I could help.
