Hello!

Now I know what a CPU does normally, but what does it do in games?

I have a decent graphics card, but a below average CPU, and some games lag when there is a lot of things on the screen (eg. On Bf3, when you can see the whole map).

Has this got to do with the CPU? because my Graphics card should be able to handle this without any fps drops.

Thanks!

Solution
Damage calculations, enemy spawn point and such aren't handled by the user it is handled by the server.(in most scenarios)

Theres quite alot when you think about it, even though it doesnt seem like it on the surface. Damage calculations, enemy spawn points, Audio queues, collision detection, AI, saving, loading, anything that involves text, most of the UI, inputs (click, button presses, keystrokes), character and enemy statistics, and alot of other things.

So would this be why my fps drops slightly on bf3 multiplayer?
