Just wondering, I have a dx4840 and it came with a geforce 315 so i'm looking to upgrade the graphics, also it's like 4 or 5 years old if that helps.

Solution

his psu would be fine, its a low wattage gpu he is installing.

Technically yes, but I wouldn't recommend it due to your old (most likely crappy) OEM PSU. If you do want to add one, you should replace the PSU with a new decent 350-450W unit, which will set you back $40-50. Some recommendations would be Seasonic S12II, Antec Earthwatts, Corsair CXM and Rosewill's Green series.

I'm in the same boat. I've ordered a GTX 750ti SuperClocked from EVGA, and my DX4840's 300W power supply has been fine for 4 years, but I don't know if it will be enough for my GPU.

People have told me yes, so I ordered it. :)

You'll probably be okay, but if you install it and have problems you can pick up a Corsair CX500 for $25.
