When I image my new external hard drive on my Mac, what format should do so it will be recognized on both my Mac and PC? Is there such a thing?

Solution
Format the drive as either FAT32 or exFAT. exFAT will allow for file sizes of greater than 4GB while FAT32 has a 4GB files size limit. Either of those will work on both a Mac and PC.
