Can monitor affect anti aliasing quality?

Hello guys, recently I noticed that the difference between game graphics between mine and one of my friends PCs is very different. On my PC, I can notice aliasing a lot more than on my friends PC, in games such as battlefield 3 my friends game would look a lot better compared to mine. I was wondering if monitor can affect anti aliasing quality, because I notice a lot more aliasing "flicker" on my monitor than his. I have a 19" 1440x900 monitor and my friend has an ASUS MX279H. Please help me as I'm debating on whether I should get a better monitor or not, or if something else is wrong with my system. Thanks for helping :)

Let's say you have two monitors: one that's 1366 x 768 and one that's 1920 x 1080. You're playing a game WITHOUT anti aliasing enabled. You're gonna see less "jaggies" on the 1080p monitor. Basically, a higher res monitor will produce a crisper image.

Yeah for sure it can a higher resolution monitor is going to produce a much cleaner crisper picture. Just remember the higher the resolution the more GPU horsepower you need to feed it. Just look at all of the reviews on modern GPU's they start testing at 1080p and go up. You are not even at 1080p with your monitor so upgrading will make a big difference providing your card can handle it. What card do you have?
