Show me the benchmarks please - IMO NOT TRUE. While the latest cpus are not great overclockers, they are clock-for-clock more efficient and more efficient power wise.

There is no need to get a top end i7 if you are only gaming.

http://benchmarkreviews.com/3905/intel-core-i5-4430-cpu-lga1150-haswell-desktop-processor-review/13/

You can get the i5 4430 and still get competitive performance. It's 12570 rupees at theitdepot.com

If you want to do other things, like video encoding, the same review I linked shows that the i7 performs a fair bit better.

Please keep in mind, the i5 I linked will NOT overclock. For gaming, that's not a bit deal.

do you plan to overclock?

if so, i actually recommend going 3rd gen, a core i5-3570K will blow just about any 4th gen i5 outa the water

*sorry just read last line of post, but there is nothing really wrong with third gen, and it will save you a decent chunk of change

**now i am confusing myself

you won't get ultra on those.

Yeah, but GTX 650TI should cut it for him on high because I just searched up his TV model the Sony LED W600 has a resolution of 1280x768 which imo is terrible but it's up to him

You are correct: Intel Core i5-3570K @ 3.40GHz
7,183 Passmark

Intel Core i5-4670K @ 3.40GHz
7,812 Passmark

at that res I'd be tempted to try onboard

Yeah even my retired 7750 could get good frames at high at 1280x720

it would free up budget for a better 'rest of system' and then get a gpu later, once the display needs it.
