So also upgraded my ram to the above mentioned, and I understand that the motherboard by default clocks the ram to 1333 mhz My motherboard is a sabertooth 990fx r2.0; while in the bios I found the overclock to 1333/1600/1866 mhz is that what I switch and is it safe? Thanks everyone in advance.

Dear there are many options to change the frequency of the DRAM. Most safest is to use the XMP profile. See if it is available, use it. If not then find DRAM Frequency and change it to 1866 MHz (Equivalent to what you are saying in your question)

Yes it is safe. If system could not set at it, it would restart and you'll have the option to change or reset it.
