Attached a new SSD (EVO 840) to GA-MA785GMT-UD2H (rev 1.0).
After reboot, verified that new SSD is seen in BIOS.
next, installed samsung cloning software, and cloned C drive into SSD.
Windows 7 installed driver and recognized SSD as drive K.
At this point installed Magician software version 4.3, and received message that SSD drive is not found on the system.
Tried to re-install older Magician version, but same error was received.
Please advise how to fix this issue.

1. You have an older AMD based motherboard that is no longer in production. The board was released before there were SATA 3 6Gb/s ssd's. The board does not properly support modern 3rd generation 6Gb/s solid state drives. If you get it to work you will have to make do with SATA 2 3Gb/s performance levels at best.

2. A fresh clean install of Microsoft Windows 7 is the preferred method of installing the os. Cloning software works reasonably well but sometimes glitches occur. In addition, when cloning you wind up transferring a bunch of old Windows files that have accumulated over time but were never deleted by Windows.

3. I am surprised that Windows 7 shows drive letter K: for the ssd. It should have been assigned drive letter C: which would normally be the primary boot drive. That would suggest that you might not have gone into the system BIOS and selected the ssd as the primary boot drive.

4. Any chance you tried to clone more than 100GB from the old drive to the ssd?

1. I was aware that only SATA2 performance is expected.
2. WIN7 seems to run fine when booting from the SSD.
3. The drive letter K was assigned before booting from the SSD after the cloning process completed when still running with the old system disk as C.
4. Only 70GB of data were cloned.

Only the magician software can't find the SSD device. I can boot from it as system drive and WIN7 starts up fine.
I only wanted to use the Magician for updating the FW.
Can I use a USB flash drive for updating the FW by placing the FW ISO on a USB drive and booting from it ?
