High Cpu Spikes

I have a recurring problem on my laptop. The cpu usage is usually around 70-100% even though no demanding programs are on. Furthermore, system idle has the highest cpu usage under the task manager. Another bizarre thing is that, when I disable my usb drivers the usage drops to 30%, this makes the laptop usable, but it still hangs from time to time. I tried reinstalling but with no avail. I'm not sure what else I can tell, but it would be great if someone knew anything about this.

Download Process Monitor.

It will show you what programs are causing the major spikes.

Mostly its a malware that causes those spikes or some upgrade going on at the back.

Delete that particular malware or file which is hogging your system resources.

And you should be fine.

Could you tell me where are the indications of the spikes in the Process Monitor? I'm quite clueless at these things.

Process Monitor will tell you which programs are using maximum PC load.

It will tell you the percentage of CPU load used by a particular file.

That way you will know it's this file that's causing spikes and you could probably safely remove it.

Although you might wanna ask before removing, because you could potentially remove an important file..
