I dropped my hp laptop I'm unsure of the model but I purchased it in summer 2010 and it has windows 7 running on it with an i5 processor. I dropped the laptop a few days ago and since then does not start up. It gives me the option to start startup repair but hasn't changed for over 24 hours. Please help!

You have most likely damaged the hard drive, in which case the drive will have to be replaced.

If you wish to test for hard drive failure, you can test it with Hitachi Drive Fitness Test for DOS which loads from a bootable CD. Download the CD Image from here: http://www.hgst.com/support/downloads/legacy-downloads#DFT

Create a CD from the CD Image with IMGBurn: http://www.filehippo.com/download_imgburn

Boot your laptop from that CD.
Choose "ATA Only" from the interface-type selection screen.
Press <Enter>.
Drive Fitness Test will open.
