Hi there,

So here's my current setup.

Processor: Intel i3 2100 at 3GHz

Motherboard: Intel DH67BL

RAM: 4GB at 1333MHz Single DIMM

SMPS: Antec VP550P

Current Graphics Card: Radeon HD6850
Manufacturer: Sapphire
Overclocked: Yes (Manually, using Trixx)

Monitor: 1080p BENQ LED 22"

Keyboard and Mouse: CoolerMaster Devastator Combo

So I haven't been gaming much in the last 6 months and my 6850 is showing its age and would like to upgrade it. I plan to game at 1080p only but would like to push the limits as much as I can.

So I have set aside 400 - 450$ (Approx. 25 - 28k Rupees) for upgrading my PC. I'm looking for suggestions as to how to fully utilise my budget to the maximum so that my gaming experience is improved.

Thanks for the help !

If you save $50 more you can get yourself an i5 4670k and a gtx 760. They would significantly upgrade your computer.. Also getting another ram stick would help for some games

Edit: socket1155 get i5 3570k.. Even cheaper!

It would be a heck of a upgrade, oops, except that his present motherboard and CPU are socket 1155 and the 4670K is socket 1150.

At OP, as Jaco suggested, the 760 is a great card. As for CPU, something like a 3470 or if you can find one a 3570K. However with that motherboard you're not really going to be able to overclock, so the 3470 would be more appropriate. Also as Jaco said another stick of RAM would help. Four gigs is pretty much basement now. Dual channel should also provide a small boost all on it's one.

I'd like to add to the two previous posts by saving don't get the K-version Intel CPU. Your motherboard is a H67 so you can't overclock thus the K-version would be useless. A 3470 or a 3570 would be the optimum choice. Before you buy another stick of RAM, make sure you have a 64 bit OS as 64 bit is required for more than 4 gigs of memory.

I'm currently on Windows 8.1 Professional 64 Bit.

Hypothetically , suppose I were to just dump all my dough on a r9 270x or 280x (The 760 and 770 are more costly in India) , how much of a "bottleneck" would my CPU and MoBo be ?

Currently I can play most games at 1080p on high including some of the more demanding ones like Witcher 2 , naturally not at 60 fps but around 30-40.

That sounds plausible. The MoBo doesn't have another PCI slot , but I'll probably change that in 6-8 months time.

Could you possibly link one which you would recommend at a decent price ? Sorry to be such a bother. Thanks.

The i5 will not bottleneck the 270x. It won't bottleneck a 780ti. You would only have to worry if you intend to run SLI. Also, unless you plan on running SLI, overclocking (with a K version) or seek special features from a different motherboard, there's no need to get a new motherboard in relation to CPU power. There isn't any performance difference between the Z77 and a H67.
