okay guys so i need a gpu for around 200-300 pounds which leaves huge options open that many i need opinions of others to decide what to get. the options are a gtx 770 2gb or 4gb , a r9 280x ( these are now horrible priced or out of stock ) , or any gtx 760 or possbly save up for a higher tier card 780/r9 290. i game on a single 1080p monitors but it is a 144ghz so if the card is over kill in fps it doesnt matter , however i may be upgrading monitor around june ish. to higher res but lower ghz. any suggestions are welcome. also sli or crossfire is an option i can take for future proofing thanks.

Save up a bit more and get the R9 290 or 780 (my money would be on 290) for now as well as later. To make use of your 144Hz refresh rate get a card that can maximise eye candy and fps. An 290 can be had for just over 300 at about 320, of course, if you will be upgrading your monitor to a G-sync monitor then get the 780 but in terms of benchmarks, 290 wins more often than not.

The 280x is OOS in quite a few places and the 770 is not the best price/performance in what it's offering but is currently being bought due to the fact that it's so hard to get a 280x at a reasonable price point (the price they're meant to be at).
