Hi!

So i just build my new gaming system without an optical drive and bought a copy of windows 8 OEM on a DVD.
How do i install Windows via an USB?

Many thanks,

Mr_Brammetje

You'll need the use of a PC with an Optical Drive to copy the contents of your 64bit disk as an ISO using software like Infra Recorder
http://download.cnet.com/Infra-Recorder/3000-2646_4-10698816.html
(Watch you don't d'load any extra software, CNET famous for it! Examine each screen carefully)
(Use the 'Actions' Tab to get the Copy Disk as ISO Option)
Then you'll need to prepare your USB drive, I use YUMI Pendrive

http://www.pendrivelinux.com/yumi-multiboot-usb-creator/

Scroll down to 'Download YUMI'
Insert your Pendrive and note it's Drive Letter (Important!)
Run the software once downloaded
Select the correct Drive Letter
Scroll down the list of Distros to 'Windows Vista/7/8
Browse to the location of your ISO It should look something like this

Okey, even when setting the boot order to USB, it doesnt work.
My Motherboard is a: M5A78L-M/USB3
Do you need more information than that? (Like my cpu etc?)

Just checked your BIOS, it's straight forward enough. Means there is something amiss with your bootable USB drive, though. Did you allow YUMI to format it, so you only have YUMI plus your W8 ISO?

Well, it shouldn't matter where the ISO comes from, provided you download it using the same architecture as the machine you're installing it too. i.e. a 64bit system.

Ah, i was trying to do it on a 32-bit laptop. Should i try it on a 64-bit machine?
