please my WD Passport external hard drive fell but not too hard or too far to the floor but its not working properly and responding very slowly. it takes very long to open files on it and even longer to send files from it. When i try to play a movie from it, it takes long to start and when it finally starts, the movie stops and play. It is really frustrating. So what do i do to fix it?

Solution
if there isn't external damage, backup your data and RMA it,,,my friend had a 500gb drive,,it fell,,was damaged from the inside,,,he RMA'd it and got a new drive with 750 gb space

I've got the same problem although the hard drive hasn't been dropped but its no longer in warranty, is there any way of getting all the files off of it as there's all my edited wedding photos on there

Are you able to view the files? If you are able to copy the files,do as soon as you can. Download a software called crystaldiskinfo and check your drive status there. Don't try any other solutions like de-fragmenting the drive or something as it would only make matters worse.

Just try and let me know.

no I have tried and it has started copying them twice so far but crashes seconds in to the transfer or doesn't even let me see the files before crashing

See if you can take it to a local Computer guy and have him try and copy those files. Have you tried checking the status using the software?
