Hi Forum,
I'm posting the following question...I noticed a yellow exclamation mark next to my computer in the devices menu. I have tried to update the driver and troubleshoot it to...but to no avail.

If it is helpful here is the device status:
The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)
There is no driver selected for the device information set or element.

Event details
Device PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_8C22&SUBSYS_1905103C&REV_05\3&11583659&0&FB was configured.

Driver Name: null

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah, you would have too look up that VENDOR (VEN) cataloged as 8086 to see whom that is, what type of DEVICE (DEV) is 8C22 (Video, Sound, etc.) then the Sub SYSTEM ( Subsys) 1905103C (the specific device it is.. i.e. The X-Y Ultra 9000 Mouse pad). This would be the only way to 'track down' from the software view the device that isn't working correctly and get the right drivers (they may have not made a W8.1 driver that is certified by Microsoft).

Otherwise write down all the parts you see in your PC (download and use SPECCY lot easier to do that) then look for your PCI slots inside the desktop, and unplug the card not listed as working (with the power off of course). So if you know the sound card is plugged in and listed fine as the sound card, you can eliminate that as the choice, if you know your video card is working then you don't touch that, and so on.

Otherwise if this is still under WARRANTY I would just call HP for support, it is why you paid the price for it.

Hi,
Although it's been six years from this initial post, I thought I'd offer a solution.

I had the same issue and I eventually found the solution. It was to download the driver from Dell (although I do not have a Dell computer). It is the driver for the Intel C220 Series/8 Series Chipset, you can find it here: https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=8gn4w
