550W PSU enough for R9 280X with OC? + which one to buy?

Hello,
is this PSU: Fortron Black Power 550w OK?

I've been running i5 4570S @ 3.6GHz and 7950 @1100/1575 without issues, but I'll be upgrading to R9 280X soon, so just checking if it's fine.

I also have a GREAT price for R9 280X Sapphire Dual-X, $298 + no shipping costs whatsoever.
What do you think, is it fine?

Since you are not oc'ing, it may work, although a 600W PSU is recommended for a R9 280X GPU.

I've looked up some benchmarks, it was mostly fine.

Whatever you decide, however, I would stick with quality top tier PSU brands such as Seasonic, XFX, Corsair (EXCEPT their CX series) or Antec.

edit: I guess Fortran is not that bad a name according to here:

The Rosewill Hive 650W is a good 650W one, while the OCZ Fatal1ty 550W is a good 550W one. Cheers!

Edit: Yes, 550W is enough, but I'd suggest a 600-650W PSU (price difference is small).

Oh, I actually already have that PSU and don't prefer to replace it. It's like another $100 I can barely afford.

I run an r9 290 on a 550w psu and have a big oc on my cpu. So yeah, your psu will be fine

What if, just in theory - that PSU ran r9 280X for another year or two? Will it still be fine?

Hey mate, I just got that card, ran some tests 1150/1550 @1.218V and PSU doesn't even run hot!
Hopefully this helps to alot of people dealing with the same problem. It's fine, any 'high quality' 550W can take this card on.

Thanks a lot boss. Even I was confused about PSU. I bought r9 280 last week and it is still in its bos. Today i ordered Antec 550 and waiting for that..
