Hi All,

I've recently purchased my first SSD and was hoping to get some advice on setting things up with it.

Basically what I'm looking to do is have Windows 7 on the SSD and use my old hard drive as storage. The SSD is only 60GB so I'm pretty sure cloning the drive is out. ;)

What I've been thinking is to do a clean install of Windows 7 on the SSD and then boot from there but my concern is that all the registry entries for programs on the old hard drive will no longer be correct (I'm assuming).
Is that right? If that is the case is there any way around it?

Thanks to anyone who can offer advice in advance.

Rob

This is correct. The new OS install on the SSD knows nothing about them.

Not really.

And a 60GB is right on the edge of too small for the OS and applications.
So....what you need to do is gather all your install files and disks. Any serial numbers and keys.
Reinstall.

Some things on the SSD, and some on the HDD.

For that size drive, I would recommend installing the OS on the SSD and nothing else, install everything else on the secondary drive, as you will find, its unavoidable that somethings will get installed on the SSD by default, so that 60 gig will get chewed up pretty quick if you install anything else on there
