Hey guys,

I am working on the first build and man, is it a learning process so far.

I've read a few articles stating that it is seemingly safe to run memory rated at 1.65v on a Maximus VI Hero with an i5 4670k CPU rated at 1.5v. Being that this is the first build, I wanted to make absolute sure that this will run safely on an overclocked system as well as being an adequate choice for what I plan on building. I am torn between the Sniper and Trident X series but I'm leaning toward this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E168...

This system will be for gaming purposes in it's starting stages, but I will eventually be using this for an all purpose PC if and when I return to school.

Here's what I am running:

Asus Maximus VI Hero Mobo
Intel i5 4670k CPU
Corsair HX750 PSU
EVGA GTX 780 03G-P4-2784-KR GPU
Samsung 840 Pro 256G SSD
Windows 8.1 OS

Thanks guys!

EDIT: Thanks to brarboy for the help on this. I'm still open to anyone's opinions or suggestions. I'm interested in hearing others' experiences with a similar set up.

Being Haswell built Trident X is most recommended as it is primarily aimed for z87 series+Haswell. Sniper series are most recommended for Intel previous gen(Ivy Bridge and below) and Amd processors. No worries, you are good with your leaning preferences.
Edit: Your motherboard will automatically set your voltage of ram for the best configuration once you enable X.M.P profile in bios.

Thank you! I had a hunch that the motherboard would adjust the voltage accordingly, but I just wasn't absolutely sure. I've heard different theories both personally and on multiple forums, but I wanted to be extra careful. Thanks again!
