I have a Compaq SR1901WM running Windows XP. It has the stock processor in it, a Sempron (P) 3200+ 1.8 GHz, but it now has 3GB of RAM, and I upgraded the hard drive to 320 GB. I bought an AMD Athlon 64 3800+ socket 939 CPU to maybe get a little more speed. When I installed the new CPU, something does not work. When I turn the computer on, the power supply fan runs at extremely high speed and it will not boot. I just get a no signal in the middle of my screen, nothing else. When I reinstalled the original processor, it booted right up, no problems. Do I have to do anything special to upgrade the processor? Thanks !!
