Currently I have my desktop gaming PC in the same room as my TV. For some games, I still prefer to sit at my desktop monitor and use keyboard and mouse. However, I would like to be able to sit on my couch and use my 360 controller to play some games on the TV. I am looking to run an HDMI cable across the room to connect my TV to my computer. My plan would be to set this up as a mirrored display rather than as a second separate screen. If I do this, will my graphics card render one image and output it to both screens, or does it have to render two separate images? Trying to figure out if this setup will affect my framerate/maximum settings that I can use.

For reference, my setup is a 3570k @ 4.4 ghz, 16GB ram, 4GB GTX 680

Solution
The FPS decrease will be very minimal, it only renders it once, but since it has to output it to the other screen it makes the GPU work just a little harder. The FPS decrease should be very subtle and you might not even notice it.
