Hey guys, first post here.

I've currently been having problems with my home build.

I recently bought Far Cry 3 and on my first play my PC blue screened after about 30 mins and on start up I was put through the BIOS with the message that there had been a power surge and my PC had shut down.

Ever since then I've been getting regular BSoD, mainly when I try to play Far Cry but also sometimes when idle at the desktop.

This is my build if it helps

Intel I7 3770k
12 GB DDR3 RAM
GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost
600W Cosair power supply (can't remember model)
Windows 64bit Pro

If you want the minidumps let me know.

Thanks.

I should probably have asked that, however he said it also happens in IDLE so I doubt that's the problem.

For now though, I recommend you do THIS:
1) Go into the motherboard BIOS (DEL key on boot) and click "XMP" and SAVE those settings
2) Run MEMTEST www.memtest.org (change Boot Order in BIOS if it won't boot to USB or DVD as applicable)

*I should add that your WALL POWER may also be part of the problem, and a good surge protector might help. Better yet a Voltage Regulator like THIS ONE is a good idea:

We had brown-outs that destroyed THREE ITEMS, then I bought this when my dad got a Plasma HDTV. If the wall voltage spikes beyond spec this unit shapes it so it won't damage your PC.

It doesn't matter when it happened. Overclocking can cause many issues for some computers including bsod (i don't know why but that just seems to be the case). The guy needs to post the error code.
