How should I apply the thermal paste?

I've been searching on google for a while now and as I can see, there is many different methods. Now, I've bought a Hyper 212 EVO cooler to my i5 4670k CPU. How should I apply the thermal paste (comes with the Hyper 212 EVO) to the CPU, so I can get the best connection and cooling.

I know there is many threads inhere who explains a bit of both "most-used" methods, but i prefer asking more specifically about my components!

Thanks!!

its the same for any cpu and cooler really. The easiest and arguably the best way is to put a small pea sized glob in the center of the cpu and put the heat sink on, trying to minimize slipping and twisting as you put it on. You don't need to cover the whole cpu with paste, the actual cpu die size is much smaller than the cpu itself. if you put too much thermal paste it will act as an insulator and won't conduct heat as well. Just so long as you cover the "hot spot" you'll be fine and a pea sized glob in the middle of the cpu will take care of that when the cooler gets mounted.

Here is a link for you to see how much of an area that absolutely needs thermal paste...
