Hello Mice section,

Could you help me look for a new mouse to replace my Razer Naga Epic? In order of importance, I'm looking for a mouse to satisfy:
______________________________________

-Wired (not wireless)

-1800 DPI (my 24/7 ONLY DPI setting)

-build for a fingertip grip/claw grip (mostly fingertip!!)

-size of my hands: 7.5" from middle finger tip to wrist, 3.5" across knuckles, 4.5" (widest palm) measuring from base of thumb across to end of abductor digiti muscle.

-no acceleration (my Naga Epic has a laser sensor, and I always put acceleration on 0 via Razer Synapse software)

-has rubberized/easily gripped coating. I've used the Naga Epic since it was released, and I STILL hate the smooth slippery plastic finish near my side buttons.

-I use this mousepad http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826988006; apparently the surface is PVC plastic "finished in silver-metallic plastic coating" whatever that is.

-is not too loud of a click. The Naga Epic is LOUD, and gets louder with age. If I had a backup mouse, i would take this ***** apart and try to mod the clickers.

-optional, but custom / blue or orange (no red/green) LED lighting would be nice.

I read some other topics regarding my situation
:

*I don't like the G700. it's too big, and wireless. not fit for fingertip, IMO.

*I ONLY use 1800 DPI. I don't really care optical vs laser, as long as it's reliable. I don't compete in clans or teams, but I play competitively.

*CM Storm Spawn is lookin nice, but here I am asking you guys still.

Other notes:

-Being that it's older technology, I shy away from optical mice. But I've also read topics were there were faults in laser technology. So, i.e., a good representation of either laser/optical technology is welcome.

-The computer games I've first grew up on were FPS, so I tend to aim and use my mouse like an FPS player would, regardless of the kind of game I play. That said, I play (in order): FPS, RTS, MMO

-I've owned the G400, and it was an atrocity for me. Could never get a grip down on that mouse.

-To date, the Razer Copperhead was my favorite, but I got cramped hands in a short time. Probably due to the slick plastic, which forced me to clench onto the ~3mm thick rubberized LED cushion on the sides. I just felt it was too slim for my liking; my hands and fingers felt like they were trying to wrap around an invisible electrostatic field of PAIN after an hour. Sorta. I like to play for on average 2 hours in a session.

-Price is not that big of an issue, I will pay for something that lasts and fits my needs, because useability / comfort of my hands (implying lifespan) is the real price to me.

Thank you for reading, and I hope there is something you can suggest :)

attached is a bottom-viewed picture of how I like to grip my mice. You can see that it's based off claw, but it's more relaxed without "curled" right and left click fingers. This tends to make my hand tired if I curl my fingers up, like how I see most standard claw-gripping. There is sometimes contact - for when stability/sniping - on my outer digits (side of thumb, tips of ring and pinky fingers) with the surface of my mouse pad. I have moved my thumb to show how much my palm wraps around my mouse, but normally my thumb would rest on the bottom (near button #7, as in the button with a '7' on it which is second from the bottom of the four buttons near my thumb.)

Thank you.

I'll be looking into these more later, but right now I have just looked at the Steelseries Sensei, and have read that the newer Steelseries Rival is generally more preferred upon a google search: Steelseries sensei vs rival.

What's your take on that?

All steelseries mice are great. Just great. Amazing build, features and customer support..
Steelseries Rival will be even better. I don't know why it isn't In the list. Maybe, I don't know why :p
But yes, go for Rival and you will be golden.
Look into Taipan and Level 10M AS WELL.

Thanks for your input again.

Why do you recommend those mice? What sensors do they use?

Also, have you looked into Mionix' Avior 7000? It uses a fairly recent optical sensor. I've heard good things, but not enough good things about it.

Thanks for your input.

I try not to care about what these "professional gamers" use. It may give me a ballpark idea that the mouse isn't exactly unusable, but for the enthusiast at home, more insight is desired - at least it should be. It is also common that these young gamers are sponsored to use their gear. I remember with the advent of Razer stuff, everyone naive enough thought they were great. Razer even advertised "professional gamers" using their stuff. It's an old played out marketing hook.

But after these years of Razer being around, it is becoming more known to the consumers that a good portion of their products are flawed. I was one of those suckers that drank the koolaid thinking I was purchasing top-notch. For the price, I can't stick to Razer anymore unless you're talking about their DeathAdder or long obsolete (but good for its time) Copperhead series.

Mionix has been around for at least a few years now. I first knew about them two years ago when I snagged their mousepad Propus 380 off a bargain shelf. Have never owned any of their mice tho.
