Hello guys, i've an HP pavilion p6721, with an i5-2300 processor (which consumes about 90-95 W), 1TB 7200rpm hard drive, 4 GB of 1333Mhz DDR3, and a 300w PSU
my question is, can this computer handle a Radeon HD 7770 GPU, which consumes a max of 85W (i'm not an expert but 85+95+ hard drive and other devices can never exceed 250w at max)
the problem is, in this GPU's official website, it says that you need at least a 500w PSU (or greater), so should i buy this? or the less power consuming 7750??
thanks in advance

Ah makes sense, I wouldn't exactly recommend the 7770 for a system with a weak OEM PSU which is usually low quality and does not handle well under stress at all

If you were going down the 7770 route it'd be best to grab a new PSU, and by then the accumulated cost would be similar to that of just grabbing a 750
You'd be better off getting a GTX 750 or 750 Ti (the models without the power connector), they perform better than the 7770 whilst consuming less power

Wattage isn't everything, read your PSU sticker and check the amperage under the +12v rail, multiply that by 12 and that's the total output that the 12v rail can handle

thank you, but the problem here is that GTX 750 is more expensive, and i'm a poor college student, i wanted the Radeon HD 7770, because it's the cheapest GPU available that can play last gen games

actually it has a 6 pin power connector, means it can take power directly from PSU
i don't have the card actually, but i'm worried about finding a better choice with a similar price
