I just installed a Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB in my desktop and looking at the settings in the Magician software for tweaking I am more than just a bit lost: I'm really not sure which settings to select.

My system specs are as follows:

Operating System
MS Windows 7 64-bit SP1
CPU
Intel Core i7 930 @ 2.80GHz
Bloomfield 45nm Technology
RAM
24.0 GB Triple-Channel DDR3 @ 666MHz (9-9-9-24)

Motherboard
Dell Inc. 05DN3X (CPU 1)

Graphics
HP LP2475w (1920x1200@60Hz)
HP LP2475w (1920x1200@60Hz)
ATI Radeon HD 5700 Series

Hard Drives
500GB Samsung SSD 840 PRO Seri (SATA-SSD)
1954GB Western Digital WDC WD2002FAEX-007BA0 (SATA)

Optical Drives
HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GH50N
HL-DT-ST BD-RE BH30N
Audio
High Definition Audio Device

Can someone guide me on this? I had hoped that the best settings would be set by default, but other than checking to be sure AHCI is enabled, I have not tweaked anything. I believe I'm supposed to enable trim, but can't find it in the GUI.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Solution
trim should have been auto enabled in windows 7. the settings under it are just detail items that don't make any real performance difference. I would just chose one of the three defaults. I like maximum reliability settings or max performance settings.

Thanks, Maxmellon. I selected maximum performance mainly because I tend to run several big programs at the same time most of the time.

And thanks for the link: I determined that trim is enabled.
