Hello,

I'm new to this forum. It has been very insightful with regards to information. First off, I am not a computer enthusiast by any means but am looking to build a nice gaming/multi media computer. I really only need the build for web browsing, gaming, torrenting, movies and music. I'm not really big into OCing my computers as well. I game on a 60 hertz 1080p 28-30" (can't quite remember) Viewsonic, but due to the new Gsync enabled graphics cards I may upgrade my monitor in the future to take advantage of this option, hence why I'm going with the 780.

Some things I have in mind thus far:
Card: GTX 780 (non OC'd)
PSU: 850 Watt Corsair Haswell sli and xfire ready
16 GB Mem: 2x 8 GB 240 pin, ddr3 mem moduels, min of 1866 mhz
HD:1 TB 7200 RPM (possible Seagate Barracuda) - I'm not sure if I'm going to go with a SSD due to not caring about load/boot times so much, I have external HDs for movies/music. 1 TB should be enough.
CPU Haswell i7 4770, probably the standard version since I'm not planning on doing any OCing

Other:
Probably some kind of after market heatsink for the CPU

Motherboard: Here is where the question comes into play, I was thinking a MSI z87 G45, good price @ 150$. I'm not sure if I need any of the features on a MB like the Sabertooth z87, Max Formula ect, or some of the higher end MBs within the 200$+ range.

Any recommendations?

Thanks,

-Mal

Hello Rolli59,

Thanks for the reply, it is a possibility down the road I may go with SLI 2x 780's. That's kind of why I wanted to get the 850 watt sli ready PSU. I'm not sure also if down the road a Haswell i7 4770 non k series CPU would bottleneck 2x GTX 780s. However, if I did sli them it wouldn't be anytime soon.

Thanks Rolli,

I've been hearing some positives about the ASRock Fatal1ty motherboards. Barring a defective one, I assume it would get the job done. I'm still liking the sleek look of the MSI z87 G45 Gaming however. Narrowing it down a bit at least. I just see no reason to spend extra for a mobo with the intentions on not OCing, or for extra sata ports or features I won't use, ect. I think one with solid functions within the 100-150$ range should do. I'm sure I'll be pretty happy once I build the PC in general. I just have a bad habit of procrastinating due to the many options available.
