I'm building a PC and I'm not sure if I should save some money and buy an i5-4440 or buy an i5-3570k. I would like to save as much money as possible but the gtx 770 is a powerful card and I don't know enough about CPU's to know if an i5-4440 would hold it back from it's full potential.

More about : 4440 bottleneck gtx 770

Short answer: No the i5-4440 will not bottleneck.

no not really. but there are some games where you can run a top of the line 3970x and a 780ti and after a small overclock the game sees a jump in fps... these are just cpu bound games. but i think the premium you are paying for a 770 over a 760 isn't worth it in your situation.

So you're saying the 770 and 760 aren't that different? If that's the case then I'll be happy to get a 760 instead. The 770 is really pushing my budget.

there is a difference but its only about 10-12% at best. at 1080p in most games with the same settings you might gain 4-6 fps, but you can overclock the 760 to overtake a stock 770. obviously you can overclock the 770 and it will be faster again. but the 760 is the sweet spot for price to performance ratio.

+1 for 760 and OC, that was a wise idea.

You could get a 760 and then OC it to the speeds of the 770(if you get a 760 with a good cooler) as posted above.

I recommend an EVGA or Asus 760.

Thank you all for your responses. Just one question: What's the difference between overclocking and superclocking? Superclocking sounds more expensive but is it worth the extra money? Would superclocking a 760 match the performance of a stock 770?

superclocking is just a term used by the manufactures... it just means a factory overclock. you can overclock any card yourself and most card reach similar levels, some more some less.

I have the Intel Core i5 4430S and plans to buy a GTX 770 and the Pentium G3258 and OC that CPU. That may seem odd since its dual core but i use a lot of programs that are sinlge and dual core and there the Pentium rocks! My question is if any of those CPU's will bottleneck the GPU?
