I recently started overclocking my 4670k, so far I have my voltage set to 1.190 and my clock to 4.4ghz. However, after running Prime95 for around 10 hours, I was seeing my temperatures getting up into the upper 80's (87c on one core, 89c on another while the other two remained below 85c.)

I don't know for sure what the safe temps are on the 4670k. I have seen 90c, 80c and someone said 70c also. Just trying to figure out where I should go from here, should I drop down to 4.3 and try again or is there anything else I can do to help drop temperatures (MOBO Settings for instance, I am on the ASRock Z87 Fatal1ty Killer).

Or are those temps fine since what I generally use it for (gaming) shouldn't ever really get the temps up that high? I may even drop it down to 4.2ghz since I don't know of much of any game that really needs that kind of power (except maybe the Crysis series.)

Any help / suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Solution
temps above 80 degrees is not good. I would strongly suggest getting a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO cpu cooler which is around $40 and is best in it's price range.
