Speed Drops When My Pc is On

Hey guys first post on the website. So for the last couple months my internet speeds have dropped from 30mbps to 9.5 mbps. My upload rate hasn't been affected. I finally got around to calling my ISP (TWC) and after a long 2 hour conversation troubleshooting the issue with them they sent out a "Master Technician". After the Technician showed up and did his testing we determined my PC is the cause. I've already tried to scan for viruses and my PC is clean. I don't know exactly how to troubleshoot this myself. I still have the same PC for the last year and the problem just started. My Pc is the only wired device in my home. And as soon as my PC turns on Internet Speeds drop. But if I turn off my PC are speeds go back to normal. I'm not exactly sure what to provide you guys with for help on this but let me know and ill get it to you guys ASAP

Ouch. Yeah, that's a bad adapter. If it's a desktop, though, you might want to consider getting a PCI/PCIe adapter to install inside the tower instead of a USB-based solution.

Well, if the hardwired PC is constantly connecting to the Internet & transferring data, then yes, it makes sense that your other devices will see a drop in bandwidth. Your 30Mbps connection is a shared connection, so anytime multiple devices are accessing the Internet you'll see each device only get a share of it.

Now, the question is, when you say that the PC is causing it, does it happen a) once Windows is up & running on the PC, or b) as soon as you hit the power switch on the PC? If it's "a", then double-check that you don't have apps running at startup that are eating up bandwidth. If it's "b"... that's a problem with the PC, because until Windows (or any OS) is actually up & running on your PC the only thing its LAN port is doing is just talking to your router to get the connection ready (i.e. no data will be sent or pulled from the Internet).

Looks like its my network adapter. I'm looking into swapping it or repairing the one i have. Don,t know what it exactly is yet. What i did is went out and purchased one of those USB to Ethernet adapters and it worked perfectly i had my full speeds and everyones speed wasn't effected
