I want to get the best value-for-money graphics card for a build that i am making but cant decide which one without feeling like im wasting money.

i am planning on using programs such as blender, maya and a few from adobe creative suite but i also will be playing games using this gpu as well so i want it to be able to run games such as rust and dayZ.

the specs im looking at getting at the moment are:

CPU AMD FX-8320 3.5GHz 8-Core Processor
CPU Cooler NZXT Respire T40 68.8 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler
Motherboard Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD3 ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Storage Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
Memory 2x 8 gb G.Skill Ripjaws 1600mhz
Power Supply (still loking but want one under $60)

until recently i was certain of getting the Radeon R7 260X but then i read somewhere that the geforce gtx 660 ti was alot better but then i read that the 660 ti isnt good for rendering, so now i am confused to which one to get and need help.

i also found a cheap gtx 770

Thanks

3d rendering is a lot heavier on the CPU. SOME of the programs can use GPU accelerated rendering (CPU + GPU rendering alongside to speed up process), but this technology is still young I think and is seeing more support currently (ongoing). Anyways, other than a firepro or quadro card anything X60 or higher on the NVidia side. a 550ti/560/580ideally this is a great 3d modeling rendering card, idk why but I know something in the 500 series made it a winner). 660/760 goes without saying they should be fine too. CUDA cores is what you want ultimately. Also make sure you work with programs that CAN use GPU accelerated rendering (like luxrender? blender? idk about 3ds max and maya but I bet they can too, just look into it first)

I'm really hoping this is being built as a hobby box you are trying to begin learning about the #D rendering process, because if your making this build for a system you plan on using for a job you unfortunately need a much bigger budget, and rethink your hardware. Id say go with the i7-4770K, 16GB of preformance memory and a pretty hugh end GPU, find if the Nvidias or ATi cards are better for teh app your using.

Thank you all of you. So are the gtx 560, 580 or 590 better than a 660 ti or 670?(including gaming)

yeah as for games thats not 100% but they are stronger cards. i would assume because of this the answer would be yes, but its not always the case. It does have more raw processing power, which will help with renders etc. The 5___ vs 6___ just indicates generation. the second number is the strength of the card in the series
