GTX 570 MSI Reference with Corsair CX430M and PII X 1055t @ Stock?

Im getting my hands on a gtx 570 reference from MSI for a good deal and was going to put it into my second pc, that has a Phenom II x6 1055t @ stock clocks, 4x1gb ddr3, a msi 890fxa-gd65, a ssd and hdd, and about 6 120mm fans and a HIS 5770. With stock clocks or possibly OC'd to 3.4ghz would the CX430m power everything or is it cutting it too close?

Would be using the included 6pin and then a molex adapter to power it if it would be okay. I know the cpu uses 125watts, and the reference 570s use about 220 and everything else would be about 100watts so being about 430watt give or take so i guess it would be real close or too much, but still wanna be sure.

I don't think you have enough power. Nvidia recommends the minimum PSU wattage of 550. Because it's a reference cooler, it will run warmer than a non-reference cooler, in the end using more watts. I think you should play it safe and get a new PSU.

That's way too close, unless you really don't care about your power supply overheating and frying everything with it. I wouldn't run more than 80% of the rated wattage of a power supply, but that's my personal thought on it.

I've done a lot of work with 580 cards which are similar (more than a dozen in the
last year), yes you should definitely get a better PSU. I recommend a minimum of
750W for comfortable operation and stable oc, more if you ever plan on fitting a
2nd 570 for SLI (though TBH you'd be better off switching to a newer platform as
at that level even a Ph2 x6 will start to become a platform bottleneck depending on
the task, especially for IPC-limited apps/games).

I've had a lot of success just obtaining used Thermaltake Toughpower units for
very good prices, but there are numerous good PSU brands these days which
I'm sure others can recommend. I think toms has a roundup article too.

Alright, well the pc doesnt get used a whole lot and got the 570 for $50 off craigslist and works perfect so was just wondering, i knew a new psu would be best, but wasnt sure as ive seen some reviews and benchmarks showing whole high end system, though there newer but using around 450 watts with an overclocked i7 and 670 if i remember. obviously being older the 570 prob uses more or similar and the x6 being a 125w cpu it prob uses more than the psu can safely put out. I will prob eventually replace the psu if i can get a xfx 550 or something on sale, or upgrade my current main system psu and use my current gs700 in the secondary pc
