I currently have an Asus r9 270x DC2 running with my AMD fx 8350 running on a 650 watt psu. I have been getting really bad freezing, and lag spikes in game, and even blue screens with it. This probably isn't due to overheating, I have an Air 540 running a good air flow system with an H100i cooler. This card is also very long, and blocks my case's front USB 3.0 from being plugged into my mobo.

I am thinking of exchanging the card for an Asus GTX 760 to fix my problems. I am quite content with FPS performance, however the current card I have is unresponsive to the Asus GPU tweak software , and I am just fed up with it. I am scared of running an Nvidia card on my AMD based system, but I have read that it doesn't make a difference. (Price difference between the two cards is not a huge factor for me. I price matched Amazon's sale earlier this week and got the card for $240). I'll be ending up paying $10 more for the GTX 760.

The GTX 760 is shorter, and will allow me to use my front USB ports, but I do not know if I will be giving up performance by getting rid of the r9 270x.

Sorry for the long text, but I am in need of advice/good pro's and con's of the decisions I should make. If you have benchmark comparisons between these two cards, running with FX-8350 please post them! It will help a lot!

Thank you in advance. I really appreciate the help of this forum!

The 760 is about the same in performance with the 270x. For just $10 more, the gtx 760 is a good value over the 270x. There will be no problem running an nVidia card in your AMD CPU based system as all a current graphics card requires is a pci e gen 2.0 or higher connector, which your motherboard has.

The GTX 760 is equivalent to a Radeon 7950, which is a step ahead of the 270X. With that said, getting the 760 will be worth the money. Furthermore, it is not a time to get a 270/270X given the high demand from LiteCoin miners that result in retailers raising the price.
