I know that best configuration is 2 x 4 GB @ 1600 Mhz. But will there be noticeable improvement in gaming performance?

A 2 GB stick is in place currently. I already have 2 x 2 GB sticks from my old laptop.

If I buy and install 2 x 4 GB sticks will there be noticeable improvement in Gaming performance? also 1333 vs 1600 will there be noticeable improvement in performance?

Mine is Lenovo B490.
i3 3rd Generation 3110M, 2.4 Ghz
2 GB RAM
2 Ram slots. Max RAM DDR3 8 GB, 1600 Mhz
Win 7 64 bit

I only play world of Warcraft. B490 on low setting plays wow @80-90 FPS. I just played for 10-15 minutes to test the performance.

From I've read around places, with an integrated gpu setup, there will be a performance gain when upgrading from 1333mhz to 1600mhz. However the gain because of the Mhz is not alot, so many people just prefer to go with whatever suits them. However if you're upgrading from 4GB total RAM to 8GB total ram, I'm quite sure there will be a difference in performance. I'm not sure about how high, but I'm quite sure it will be pretty noticeable. Your card is being able to handle more textures becuase of added memory and other background processes wont be struggling for ram either.
So an upgrade to 8GB RAM would give you a decent enough performance boost, not as much as a dedicated card would, obviously, but a boost nonetheless.

Look If you're absolutely sure on the upgrade get the 1600mhz one, better to go for a higher model than a lower and then realise that the extra performance would have been beneficial.
I dont know about you but at least where I live there's hardly a 2$ difference between 1333mhz and 1600mhz. So if its a similar difference where you are a 1600 Mhz is a no brainer. However just ensure that your laptop supports 1600Mhz.

1333 vs 1600 there is difference of 22$ at my location.

anyway bigger problem here is 2 x 2 GB vs 2 x 4 GB will there is noticeable difference ?

If so 1333 vs 1600 ? will there be considerable difference?

I already have a 2 spare 2 GB cards.

Dear,

First of all make sure that you've four slots available in your notebook.

Second 2x4GB will give you more performance in terms of Dual Channel as compared to 4x2GB. However, note that in 2x4GB vs 2x2GB there is no improvement only capacity is enhanced.

With more capacity you'll be able to use heavy applications in a smooth manner.

Yes 1600MHz will give more performance than 1333 MHz. 1333 MHz is the default frequency of all DDR3 mobos, so any thing above it wold yield more results.

If you are into gaming then just ensure that which ever RAM you are taking, its timings (CAS Latency) are tight/lower and it will do you good.

Regards,

There will be quite a performance gain with 2x4 over a 2x2. You are doubling the ram after all. And integrated GPUs need all the ram they can get.
