Is there a difference between an Intel 945GM and Intel 945G chipset?

I am looking at their pages and the specs seem nearly identical except for the G having a FSB of 1066mHZ.

So...are they different? I'd like to use a Intel 945G compatible chipset for the Intel 945GM chipset that I have. Possible, just like using PC2-6400 in a PC2-5300 memory slot..right?

Also, this processor is compatible for the Intel 945GM (my card) and fits in a PBGA479, PPGA478 slot:

And this example processor also fits into that slot. So, the chipset doesn't matter if the FSB matches and the slot fits correct?

Please help!

Thank you for answering!

From what I've read online, underlocking isn't as bad or dangerous as overclocking. Is this true? I wouldn't mind the CPU being underlocked, anything would be better than my current processor speed. Also, as long as it's the correct slot, it'd be underclocked, right? I don't want to blow up my laptop.

yes underclocking isn't as bad as overclocking and certainly isn't as bad as unstable overclocking (overclocking to speeds which can cause damage and overheating). If it is the same socket it will work fine but if the FSB is higher then the motherboard supports, it will be underclocked but not too much of a big deal. if the CPU is a huge upgrade. Do you know the risks with upgrading a CPU in a laptop?
