hi, im looking to upgrade my gaming pc so that i can run GW2 at 60 fps. i can run every other game at perfect fps except GW2. im looking to upgrade my mobo, if i have to, from a cheap $70 MSI to the Sabertooth 990FX. my current cpu is the FX 6300. as for my gpu its a 7870. i play on a 1600x900 resolution monitor and i have 8GB DDR3 RAM (wont upgrade it). i have a corsair 600w psu. my question is, should i crossfire my 7870 or buy a singleton gpu like a 7950 or 7970? also should i upgrade my cpu as well or my psu? please help, many thanks

Two things.

AT that resolution, GW 2 should have no problems touching 60 fps on 7870 which is an extremely strong card.

1. You should try to turn V-sync Off and see what FPS you reach with that afterwards.
2. GW 2 is very poorly optimized and depends on CPU as well, so if you overclock your CPU you might have a better FPS.

Just increasing your 7870 into a cross fire on that resolution is overkill and definitely not required.

Intel CPU's perform better on GW2 because of CPU strengths.

Your current system looks like well balanced middle tier gaming desktop. FX 6300 is still on Tom's recommended list for its price. 7870 (and most AMD video offerings) were removed from recommendation because bitcoin miners raised their prices too much.
And the machine is probably less than 2 years old. Is it your first build? It looks nice.
Frankly it should work quite well, especially on 1600x900.
Nvidia new generation (Maxwell) cards started to appear last week (750, 750TI) unfortunately nvidia started with low power cards but now doubt high end cards are also coming and there will be changes in the prices.
If you really insist to upgrade - I generally prefer single card than 2 card variants, on the forums always someone is complaining about SLI/Xfire problems.
I'd upgrade only if I've found a good deal for 7970 or 7950. Keep in mind that recently AMD cards are not good value for money so think about nvidia also.
I'd say stick with the machine for about a year more. Then check the market - sell your CPU/MB/Video as combo, and get latest tech gaming MB, CPU and Video. But I do not like minor upgrades.

There is no real need to change the card, it's more than equal to your needs, with GW2, the problem is that particular game is notoriously hard on the CPU.
Adding an FX83xx chip is unlikely to help much, GW2 can't use all the cores, so I suggest you look into adding a decent CPU cooler and overclocking the current FX6300 but I suspect the MSI motherboard has poor VRMs-check the Newegg reviews, or post in the Components Forum here to confirm. If it does have poor voltage supply, then a better motherboard will be needed to overclock safely.

i forgot to mention that my cpu is already OC to the max it can 4.1GHz, i cant go any highier. the mobo will shut my pc down before boot up as a failsafe so it doesn't cause the cpu to fry
