Hello,
Im thinking of upgrading to dual classified GTX780 TI in SLI .
And I dont want to go down the custom water loop road, so these will be cooled on air .
I plan to fi these in slot 1 and 3 so their is a nice gap between them i have a xigmatek elysium case which has a massive 200m fan in the side panel ,blowing air right at the cards plus i have good intakes at the front of case , with exhaust at rear and top 120mm and 2x 140mm push pull..

my question is will heat be a problem for the top card or any of the 2 cards ? i do not want them to throttle due to temps.
I wanted to use a closed water loop like the h110 for cooling with the g10 kraken bracket , but that will not fit the classified board , ( i dont think ? )

Please can you give me your input on this and it would be awesome to hear from anyone who has these cards already .

Thanks
Luke

Looks to me you will be fine since there is plenty of airflow!

The reference cooler is the best for SLI in terms of temps without watercooling. And reference can be oc-ed to aftermarket levels easily.

I run a pair of reference 780's, and I have 0 space between the cards on my Matx. I also do not have a side panel fan blowing onto them. (I use Silverstone PS07B-W). I do have a good pair of Akasa 120mm front intake fans blowing cold air directly into the reference cards intake. So fresh outside air is constantly flowing through them and being expelled out the case in the back. I never run into temp issues even on loop benchmarks like Heaven and Valley and both cards always stay within 5c of each other.

Datcu , the reference coolers don't fit on the classified boards as they are bigger ( I believe ?) also the stock cooler on the classifeid has 2 fans instead of the 1 on the reference , so I'm unclear on how the reference cool is going to work better ? ( honestly Id like you to give me info on it as I really would like to know asuch as oppoible about this before I buy them )

Thanks for the replyed people , but I'm still unsure , is their any more input anyone can offer ?

The reference coolers are turbines. They take in air through the right and exhaust it through the back of the case. No heat goes into the case. Normal fan coolers eliminate the heat downwards into the case and if you have 2 or more the ones on top will blow he heat straight into the cards below them. The after market coolers may still be an option depending on how much you want to push them. At stock or slight OCs they won't heat each other all that much, but if you wan't to push them you will see a bigger difference between the temps of the 2. Also the reference cooler allows for a weaker case cooling so if you have a small case or one with bad airflow the reference cooler is again an advantage.
