Hi guys, i recently put new m/b and cpu into my rig.
Ive noticed when shutting down, everything switches off, but my keyboard and other rear panel sockets.. mic, external h/d remain powered. (Keyboard is old round pin socket.. rest is usb)

Does anyone know what is going on?

Asus Evo 2 AMD 970 m/b
AMD fx-6 6300 cpu
Corsair CX 500w psu
AMD HD 7750 gpu

NO issues booting up and al seems to shutdown properly, no fans or h/d on etc.. but lights remain on the keyboard, mic etc.. seems to be all rear panel items..

i have to turn the power off via the cut-off switch next to the AC lead, after all is booted down of course :)

Any advice on this power issue?

It's not unusual or anything to worry about, and you don't even have to bother switching off the A/C supply unless you are obsessively safety-conscious (provided your PC equipment is connected to a surge-protected power strip).

When my computer shuts down, power is maintained to my portable hard drive, keyboard, wireless mouse etc. It's always been like that, don't worry about it, it's normal.

Incidentally, you mention your external hard drive still being on after shutdown. If it's a mains-powered model it obviously will remain on since it's connected to a mains-socket whether your PC is on or off.

xD then im safe?? great.. i was thinking i'd damaged the m/b's power connector somehow and i'd got some sort of electrical problem
Yeah, my last pc only ever left the monitor light flashing, although i use my TV now... so apart from the tv, i still have same equipment attached to new mainboard.. which is why i was concerned about lights suddenly being left on everywhere..

Weight off my mind.. Thanks mate
