Hi, in my PC 2x1GB ddr2 (CPU-Z is shown DRAM Frequency as 400Mhz) RAM is pre installed, I need to install another 2gb ddr2 800mhz ram in another slot and whether these will work together or will create some problems.
Is it important order of old and new memory?

Please advise..

Solution

Dear your RAM is 800 MHz DDR2. So putting another RAM with 800 MHz DDR2 (Should be same timings) can work together.

Both of those sets are most likely DDR2-800. CPUz shows the DRAM IO bus clock, which is half of the per-pin transfer rate, so DDR2-800 has a bus clock of 400Mhz. There are no DDR2-1600 modules (that would have an 800Mhz bus clock) that I am aware of.

Thanks guys for your quick responses..
But I don't understand „creating channel“.. CPU-Z is shown that I have single channel and I use 2 ch.(2x1GB). Should I create or do something before I put stick on motherboard?
Until now I didn't do anything. I'll get stick tomorrow.
Thanks again for your advice..

Dear, on CPU-Z there is a TAB with title Memory. Click on it. Find the value against DRAM Frequency and report it here.

for best preformances single channel ,first two slots if AMD mobo, 1 and 3 -2 and 4 for Intel, 2x 1 or 2 gb DDR2 ram with same freq. If you add for dual channel same sizes and same freq. Othervise will work assingle channel - 64 bit. Dual channel 128bit, tripple 196.
