When I first decided to build my computer I was aiming towards a low budget, now that I have a job I would like to upgrade by computer at a relatively low cost. My current specs are;

* Gigabyte H61M DS2 motherboard
* Intel i3 2120 CPU
* Radeon HD 7770 GPU
* 8GB 1333MHz unbranded RAM
* Some sort of cheap brand Antec PSU, 700W, which I was going to replace because of the bad reviews, but mines been running fine for a year.

Don't get me wrong, this is a nice little gaming pc, but now I want to run things at better FPS.

I'm currently into DayZ Standalone, and I get around 20-40 FPS, and when I go into towns it goes down to 10-15, I believe this is due to the 2 core processor.

Anyway, my budget for this is around £600 for everything include CPU/GPU and whatever else is needed. I was considering a 7970 and an i5 3570k, but if I get these will I need another PSU? Anyway I'll leave it up to the toms's hardware community, thanks.

Solution
700 watt can handle a 7970 and i5 3570k easily, even though it is a cheap PSU, it'll do the job for the meantime. Eventually I would upgrade the motherboard to Z77, but no rush.

That upgrade will let you be able to max out any game at 1080p on ultra, so this is quite a big upgrade and worth it. On Dayz, you will EASILY get above 60fps on highest settings.
That PSU should be able to handle a 7970, or a 280x which is basically a rebranded 7970. You could also get something like an 8320 and Asus M5A97, that'd be cheaper than the 3570k, which offers similar performance. With the difference in prices, you can also get a good cooler and overclock.

Intel CPU's crush AMD in gaming by a long shot, if gaming is your thing, stick to the i5 3570k.
