Old CPU in new motherboard

Hi everyone,

I just bought a new motherboard (P8Z77-V LX) and I just realize I dont have any thermal paste. It seems that it is obligatory but on the quick start guide of the board, it is not tell to apply such paste. Can it be that there is already some thermal paste on the board ?

the thermal paste is on the CPU or the heatsink. it's usually gray or white in color. YOU HAVE TO HAVE THERMAL PASTE OR YOU WILL KILL YOUR CPU.

What CPU are you trying to put in that board?

Thermal paste is applied to the top of the CPU, not the motherboard. It is necessary to apply it before seating the heatsink.
