Me and a friend have been playing around with out respective systems and have hit a bit of a wall with our boot up times.

The current situation is we both are using Samsung's 840 SSD drive and have been setting the system to maximise performance and reduce boot up time, though as soon as we get happy with the timings we reconnect out optical dvd drives that seems to affect the booting times dramatically. Currently my friend has disconnected his dvd drive but I'm wondering is there anything can be done to get back the speed without fully disabling the dvd drives?

We have tried everything short of removing the dvd drives from the system. The reason why we don't want to do this is case some of the film's and series' we watch are on disc.

In the BIOS, you may have the option for Fast Boot, or whatever the manufacturer calls it, and you can disable some stuff you don't mind be active immediately upon startup. This would allow you to boot quicker, but would mean the DVD drive wouldn't be ready immediately upon entering Windows.
