Crossfired 5850s to a single card

Hello all,

I'm looking to upgrade my GPUs from Crossfired 5850's to a single card. Right now I play mostly Planetside 2 and the crossfire has horrible scaling issues (about 40-60% per card). I know Planetside2 is a CPU intensive game so the mobo/CPU upgrade will occur within the next 12 months or so.

System specs:
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition @3.9
GPUs: (2) ATI 5850s
Mobo: ASUS M4A78T-E
RAM: 12GB DDR3 (honestly I forget what speed and can't look because I'm not at home)

Which card(s) would you recommend?

Thanks!

You want to go for a 660 / 7870/ / 660Ti / 7950 / 270X / 760, will do the trick, you cpu @ 3.9 will handle it without to much bottleneck, some frames drop thats all. I had a 965 @4.0Ghz with a 7870 oc and it runs it quiet smooth. Even in more CPU-GPU intensive games like BF3 with 64 players.
Theoretical you need to bump your CPU to 4.5Ghz to get the full potential of a 7870/7950/660Ti in CPU/GPU demanding games.
To upgrade your CPU, go with FX-6300 or FX-8320 (two same performance in games with a 7870 ...) but a 6300 will overclock easely to 4.5Ghz.
If you go with Intel , a i5 3470 @ stock will be able to compete with a overclocked FX-6xxx or FX-8xxx @ 4.3Ghz. Just good to know ;)
