Hello, I was thinking of completely rebuilding my old computer and upgrade it significantly, but also as cheaply as possible. I don't know much about the technical hardware, but I have got together several pieces of components that I thought of using. The specifications would be:

Intel Pentium G860 3.0 GHz Dual Core
Asus AMD Radeon HD 6450 1GB
ASRock B75 Pro3-M
Corsair Builder Series 540W PSU
1.2 GB RAM (will hopefully upgrade)

I'm not too sure about the graphics card here. I can't make up my mind between the Radeon HD 5450 and the Radeon HD 6450. I'd like to play some of the older games, such as Counter-Strike: Source and Garry's Mod, and also maybe Rust. Would this be a suitable build, and what sorts of FPS would I get? Also, as I have said, I don't know much about the hardware, so there might be incompatibilities, though I have checked on this numerous times.

Well, to be honest a HD6450 is a nifty little Graphics Card but I do seriously doubt you could run Rust on High Settings at 30+Fps. As for Garry's Mod different game modes like Space Build 3, DarkRP, Survival and TTT put a lot of pressure on your RAM and CPU. It can usually come down to Server side, in other words not your fault. Especially if the server is like 64 people. But Spacebuild maps and DarkRP maps are absolutely huge and having minimal RAM can definitely impact your game play.

My recommendation?
Upgrade to a HD 6750 and upgrade to a bare minimum of 2gb of RAM at 1600Mhz.

If you're playing games like CS:S and Garry's MoD, Half-Life, ect. The build you have shown is 'okay'. Only thing I would suggest is improving your RAM to at least 2gb for these games. Your fps should be fine, even if you V-Sync some of your games it shouldn't ever drop below 30fps. I play a lot of CS:GO, granted I'm using a GTX 780Ti but the demand for graphics isn't high for these games.

Be careful with Garry's Mod though, depending on the game mode it can be super taxing on your PC.

Hope this helps.

Okay, thank you. Just a question about Garry's Mod. I played Garry's Mod and it seemed to have sustained a better FPS than other Source games like Counter-Strike, so what sorts of things will I have to look out for? A website said that I could run newer games such as Rust flawlessly on high settings, but I seriously doubt that, not taking into account the RAM as I will most likely upgrade that as you have said.
