Hi There,
I have a buffalo terstation setup. It acts as a network drive to many users. There is a DNS name assigned to this shared location. One of the users in my office is not able to access this location using \\shared_folder_name. However if he try to access using the ip address (\\10.0.0.0) the network location opens up. Other users are able to open this folder using dns name (\\shared_folder_name).

Is there a reason why this is happening? Please advise.

Solution
Okay, try going to control manager, under "credential Manager and delete the the saved credentials of the folder you are trying to access. Re map the drive, and see if that works. If not, try to remove client from the domain restart and rejoin.

Not sure why this happened but here are a few things you can try:
1. Go to the cmd and type ipconfig /flushdns and ipconfig /registerdns on the client machine.

2. Go to your network connections, Properties, click install, choose client and install "client for microsoft networks".

3. On the clients, under the network card properties, uncheck IPV6 and under the ipv4 properties, make sure NetBIOS over TCP/IP is checked.

Hi There,
I have already tried the 1 and 3 suggestion that you made. However I tried to do the 2nd and I can see that "Client for Microsoft Network" is already there.
