Hey guys, I'm ready to upgrade my sound. Currently, I have a Sennheiser pc360 7.1 channel headset and I'm looking at getting the titanium x-fi hd, a 5.1 card. Will this work? will channels of my headset go unused? If so, will I even notice much of a difference?
Thanks in advance!

What motherboard do you have?

And yes if your computer is only putting out 6 channels your headset won't make up and use 2 of its own, it only plays what the computer tells it.

After some more looking around I found that my headset is NOT 7.1. I was getting confused with the Sennehiser PC363. I guess the 360 is only stereo and channels don't matter? Yeah, I feel like an idiot. I have an Asus Gryphon mATX. It support 8 channels.

you don't need a sound card, your mobo already has stock 7.1. If it is stereo it pretty much means it's 2.1
